Just before graduating high school, Alyssa + Jeffery met for the first time. Alyssa’s friends had a hand in their first encounter but it didn’t take long for Alyssa + Jeffery to see the connection her friends thought they might have!
They went on their first date shortly after they met and it’s been history since.
After Jeffery proposed, they began planning their wedding. <–be sure to check out their engagements if you haven’t already.
Being that Alyssa is a wedding planner , she had a ton of experience in this area. Alyssa told me that primarily becuase she sees such a variety of weddings in her daily career that she wanted a very classic, timeless wedding. She wanted the type of wedding that she would look back on and still love years and years down the road.
She and Jeffery are a very laid back couple so their wedding suited them perfectly; they kept things simple and “without fuss” as Alyssa put it. They also made the wedding unique by incorprating their personalities through the use of books (they both love to read), photographs of them throughout the years, and a traditional Catholic ceremony. They shared authentic Cajun Food with their guests and lots of little pies in honor of this Southern couple.
Alyssa + Jeffery’s wedding could be described as relaxed, special, and fun. Their color palette was navy, gold, silver, champagne, and ivory…and there was a ton of beautiful details throughout. Jeffery’s wedding band, for instance, was very special to them. Usually it’s all about the bride’s ring but in this case picking out Jeffery’s ring was just as special. Alyssa also made her wedding bouquet by collecting antique pieces, family heirlooms, and unique broaches that she can forever keep. Two of her favorite pieces were the pearl bow on the front of her bouquet (which was an actual hairpiece her mom wore on her wedding) and the second was a gold crawfish pin that belong to Jeffery’s grandmother.
During the entire planning process…and even now, Alyssa says that she smiles when she looks back on her day. Although she knows her wedding wasn’t perfect, she realizes that the small details which never came to fruition didn’t affect her feelings toward their day. She told me that from the moment they got engaged she couldn’t wait for the ceremony. Declaring their love for one another was the most important and special moment. And although she cannot truly remember every moment, she does remember how full her heart felt.
I could go on and on about this day … but instead I’ll allow the images to tell the story. Enjoy this sneak peek of my friends, Alyssa + Jeffery, on their wedding day:
