Just a few short years ago…I met a friend that I’m certain will be a friend for life. My friend Katie is someone that I admire and look up to. She’s strong, she’s genuine…and she’s passionate in all that she does. You may now Katie from her business, Katie Bakes. (which I’m excited to have photographed for during the early stages of creating the promotional images.) And Katie, well…she’s perfectly matched with her husband Tyler, another creative…who I also admire for his talent and unique ideas!
Not too long ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Katie and Tyler. And now, in celebration of their 5-year anniversary, they dreamed of this vintage photoshoot.
We chose the French Quarter as our location because we felt it best represented the early 1900’s vibe that Katie + Tyler were looking for. They were open to having me shoot a bit of film…and even trooped through the shoot in the rain downpour. Seriously…it was STORMING the day of their session.
We started their session near the river and were able to grab some really neat shots pre-rain. Also…because of the scattered showers, the quarter was EMPTY. <–that hardly ever happens. But honestly, it couldn’t have worked out better for our shoot! We were able to grab some wide angles without ANYONE in the photograph…allowing the locations to feel truly timeless!
And lastly, this shoot challenged me. It pushed me to think outside of my box, especially in regards to posing…and moved me outside my comfort zone. I’m SO SO excited to share the shoot. Happy Anniversary you two!
