It’s a venue made of steel, concrete, and glass.  And event director, Ashley Pierce, creates an entire environment at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge that’s ideal for the modern bride. The environment is not only beautiful but fun, organized, and well put together.

After photographing Katy Ryan’s bridal session there I was looking forward to shooting in a venue SO modern! When I arrived on the day of her wedding, the venue had been transformed. The covered and enclosed entrance area was lined with white chairs and finished with beautiful navy blue hand crafted bows. The tables filled the interior area of the Museum and stacked atop were modern decor and exquisite catering. Katy’s wedding cakes silhouetted the tall glass walls and enhanced the rhythym of the steel mullions.

Beautiful.

Lately, as many brides are beginning to look for venues to host their wedding or even to shoot their sessions, I wanted to take the opportunity to highlight the Louisiana Museum; it’s modern, it’s beautiful, and it’s perfect for photography. There are over 5300 sq feet of covered outdoor space, large enough for 500 guests to dance and to celebrate!

The view of the State Capitol is another of my favorite aspects of the Museum. It makes the perfect location for shots during the ceremony.

Katy and Armand chose to have a couple’s session prior to the wedding. The museum provided SEVERAL wonderful locations within to capture these moments.

LOVE

This is the view I referenced in the opening statement. WOW. When I arrived I squeeled a little within to see such a setting for the wedding.

I can see that the guests enjoyed the view as well…

I asked Ashley (Information and Events Coordinator of the Museum) what her favorite part of working at the museum was and this was her response:

Working with the brides and their families is so rewarding. Its a blessing that not only do I get to help them plan the event (which appeals to my organized, list making style) but I also share with them one of the most special moments in their lives. Its an amazing adventure with each family- one that I treasure!

With the State Museum, we’re quite unique in that not only is it a great creative space for the brides, but the vendors love us too. We have a large catering kitchen for the caterers, and I’ve been told the beautiful architecture of this building is inspiring to many of the wonderful photographers we’ve had visit.”

The lobby is stunning; there is no worry to fill the space in an attempt to make it beautiful. It’s gorgeous just as it is.

One of the many wonderful things about the Louisiana Museum is its ability to be completely customizable. There is no set template for every wedding. The bride and/or her wedding planner in conjunction with Ashley put together the day just as every couple wants.

And as the lights go down, it creates a romantic and dramatic space for the events to unfold.

Some of the other areas I love, specifically for sessions are the stairwell…

…and the upstairs balcony area. The view down is so pretty!

Every architectural detail tells the story of the modern venue from the lighting to the material selection.

And when the night is over, the sparkler exit perfectly compliments the glowing overhead lights.

Ashley Pierce, the Information and Events Coordinator  can by contacted via email at apierce@crt.la.gov or by phone or 225.219.0726.

The museum is located at 660 N. Fourth Street in Baton Rouge, LA.  Feel free to contact the museum for more detailed information regarding availability and scheduling.

In my opinion, it’s the perfect location for a Simply Modern Wedding. 🙂

  2. Mason says:

Yesterday, while I was at work, my sister stole
my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 25 foot drop,
just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now
destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
