Called First-Bite, it’s Jessica’s way of documenting their food journey. They, being she and the love of her life: Mario. She writes about her favorite restaurants and dishes and every now and then, she’ll bring that expertise into the kitchen.
When we first met (or skyped rather…..Side Note: Don’t you just love the joys of technology?!!) Jessica + Mario spoke to me about how they loved food and cooking. And although Mario usually leaves the baking to Jess, he decided that for this special occasion they would bake together.
They traveled from Atlanta, GA for the session and found comfort in the kitchen of their good friends The Sullivan’s. It’s a VERY good thing they weren’t expecting me to guide them in the cooking because we may have been in trouble. The session was a little different from what I’m accustomed to (directing, posing, creating) and allowed me to do more documenting, capturing…and to be honest, laughing. I laughed a lot with these two. And what I loved most is how much they laugh together.
Jessica has the most beautiful smile and with Mario near, it never goes away. He keeps her laughing. They were so in sync with one another…it was obvious they’ve shared a kitchen space before. And thanks to Mario, the kitchen stayed clean. 😉
Jessica brought along the cutest food diary which contained the recipe for the day: White Cup Cakes + Strawberry Filling. They improvised on the spot for the home made icing and it was SO good!

They were definitely prepared for their shoot. Not only did they do an excellent job of selecting outfits but they were detail-oriented enough to bring along cooking necessities and…an apron for Jess!
This is really the biggest Vanilla Extract bottle I’ve ever seen….
It’s pretty difficult for me to choose, but I think this may be my favorite from the session:

Well…I think it might be this one. 😉 I can still here Jess saying: “Mario is secretly dieing inside from being dirty.” 🙂 And although it does not look this way, Mario was so conscious of keep Jess clean.
Their love is so sweet.
While the cupcakes were cooling off, we took some time outside to enjoy the beautiful sunlight.

I have to say….this was SO much fun. It almost felt like we had gone out to eat together, or spent the afternoon just chatting in the kitchen. And to top it off, we were able to enjoy the beautiful and TASTY stuffed cupcakes! 🙂 I should make knowledge of cooking and/or baking a pre-req for all future couples. 😉 You two are a blast to be around and have made me feel so much a part of this process. Thank you for being so trusting and relaxed during the session! Shooting your engagements has really made me even MORE excited about your wedding and about your bridals, Jess. You’re such a beautiful couple and I enjoyed every moment of the day!
