Jay is a landman, who travels every weekend to see the love of his life, Mary, a landwoman who works in Lafayette. But now, Mary isn’t only the love of his life…she is the woman he will marry and spend his days with. It’s been official since Mary’s birthday weekend.

One thing Mary and I definitely have in common is our need to be organized. She’s very aware and always has things in line. So, Jay made sure to devise a plan that was sure to surprise Mary.

The proposal took quite some effort on his part starting with the ring being shipped from state to state, then to Houston…to Lafayette…and then eventually with him bringing it to New Orleans. Can you believe that the ring stayed hidden in their apartment for three entire weeks?! The ring is exquisite…and perfectly suited for Mary.

So, on the weekend of her birthday, Jay planned a getaway trip to New Orleans. Coincidentally, however, the weekend of Mary’s birthday was also the weekend of Tropical Storm Lee. As you can imagine, the nerves of the trip were wearing on Jay. The weather was terrible, and he was getting ready to ask the most important question of his life. Mary says looking back that she can even remember his nervousness from the drive, fingers gripped tightly on the wheel.

When they arrived at the hotel, checked in, opened the doors to their room, they barely had enough time to set down their bags when Jay’s excitement/nerves come reached its peak. He dropped down to one knee and there in their New Orleans hotel room, he asked her to marry him.

Mary and Jay are such incredibly kind and sweet individuals, that TOGETHER…well, you can only imagine how pleasant they are to be around! It’s funny that Mary and I actually run in some of the same circles but never met before our first meeting! <–and already, they feel like friends. 🙂 It was really nice spending the afternoon with them. And despite the crazy St. Patty’s Day Childrens event…we survived. LOL.

Thank you two for allowing me to be a part of this special time in your lives…I hope you enjoyed your engagement session!

I posted this image on facebook last week, and the general consensus was that 1. Mary + Jay are good looking. 2. They’re also very loved. 🙂

So sweet!

Mary’s gorgeous ring!

Mary + Jay were so trusting throughout the entire session! I love that they were so laid back and just went with the flow of the day.
