A week in advance of her golden birthday, Josh made a trip to the French Quarter to speak with a caricature artist. He wanted to surprise Jessica and knew with a proposal like he was planning, she’d have no idea.
The day of her birthday they made arrangements to attend a casual festival. So Jessica was SO confused when he was ready to walk outside in a suit. But what she didn’t know was that he HAD to wear the suit because he had the ring in his coat pocket!
So they walked to the Quarter and as they made their way through Jackson Square, Josh suggested they have a drawing done! As a crowd began to gather, the artist would make sure to say things like “Don’t Give Away the Joke” (making sure no one ruined the surprise proposal!) And the crowd waited and whispered, anxious with anticipation of her reaction.
When the artist finished, he turned the drawing toward Jessica. At the very top were the words “Will You Marry Me?!” Shocked, she looked to Josh only to find him there…asking her to be his wife!!!
I had such an awesome time shooting in the French Quarter for Jessica + Josh’s engagement session. They’re so chill…and truly a pleasure to be around. We started the session at Muriel’s and sort of just floated around the area in search of good light and fun locations. This is my favorite approach to sessions.
I feel like that openness really allows creativity to come through and creates a stress-free, enjoyable atmosphere! I’m so proud of this session and excited to share a few of my faves (in some of my new favorite New Orleans locations!):::::
