Allison attended the showing of a film where Peter happened to be! Peter had been a part of the film (on the production side) and Allison, being a talented artist as well, had just finished a documentary of her own.

Allison and Peter ended up at a crawfish boil for the film where Peter came up to compliment Allison on her film! At the time, Peter was working at the museum where he was able to watch the film. He genuinely admired the documentary and it really touched him on a personal level. Allison also was a fan of Peter’s music with Brass Bed so they initially bonded over their admiration of each others’ talents.

Allison began watching Brass Bed more often and eventually asked Peter for drum lessons. From the beginning, they established a wonderful friendship. Overtime, they began spending more time together, grew feelings for one another, and eventually they started dating.

On December 8th five years ago, for their first date, they went to see a film together. After the movie, they walked to Judice Inn for some of Lafayette’s best burgers and walked to the art walk downtown. They both had work displayed there! (These two are so ridiculously talented). They ended the night with a hangout at the Bulldog and the rest was history.

On a personal note, I really cannot say enough about these two. If you know Allison and Peter then you know what I mean when I say that they are two of the sweetest, most thoughtful people. Not only are they both so incredibly talented artistically but their considerate ways are to be admired.

Their wedding could be described as elegant, playful, and creative. It was their one day to be extremely formal; yet their personalities are so playful that they wanted to make sure there were small touches of playfulness throughout.

I absolutely loved Allison + Peter’s moss green and antique gold color palette! Allison’s favorite purchase was her dress and Peter’s favorite were the rings they made. Together, their favorite were the button wedding favors!

Enjoy the preview of their day:

If you haven’t checked out their engagements, you should. The story alone is incredible! It will also explain that Peter made their rings!

Allison is always smiling!  And it was a pleasure working with Lori.

She even came along for the bridal session and was a huge help during the shoot!

 Gorgeous, Allison!

Allison was practically glowing with excitement on her wedding day! When we went over to the Opera House, Amelia stayed to photograph

Peter with his groomsmen. I love that they wore bowties for Peter’s wedding day!

Peter actually made his cufflinks. Again, referencing their engagement story and the acorn that he made for the proposal!

The excitement was building before the ceremony began!

The handsome Peter and his studly groomsmen

The lovely Allison + her beautiful bridesmaids

Brian of Torres did an awesome job with the florals. In addition, he was super supportive for Allison’s bridals and wedding day! 🙂

The Grand Opera House of the South!

The big moment when she walked down the aisle:

 Their expressions….were priceless!

Allison + Peter took the time to make sure the lighting was perfect for their ceremony. They even brought in china balls to position

behind the curtains on the left and right sides of the stage. I love the dramatic glow of their ceremony!

There were so many sweet moments during the ceremony which was led by Allison’s father.

Allison’s father even sang the Lord’s prayer during the wedding.

They kissed for the first time as husband and wife and turned to face their friends and family as Mr. and Mrs. Dehart!

 The Newlyweds!

Allison + Peter created a nice bit of time in their wedding schedule to allow us to relax and enjoy the shoot during their cocktail hour!

This was SO wonderful because we had the opportunity to get some great shots of them that they will cherish forever!

 LOVE

Peter especially loved the design of this area in the Opera House!

Allison wore a pair of lace gloves on her wedding day that really complimented her gown.

I don’t know what it is about the image on the left…but it’s one of my favorites of Allison + Peter. I feel like it’s very “them.”

Their programs were really cool! They each had a pair of Opera Glasses with holes to look through. Very Creative.

 Gorgeous!

Allison + Peter’s sign in table was full of unique details include the really unique favors:

(buttons with their wedding logo). –> a D and a <3 for Dehart!

I also thought that it was very special the way that they included acorns in their centerpieces to reflect the way that Peter proposed.

Inside of these old books were hollow spaces for storing well wishes and notes from their guests!

And here is a close up of their buttons.

Peter hand drew these Just Married color sheets for the children at their wedding. As you can see, they were a big hit!

 Their First Dance!

 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

One of Allison + Peter’s favorite details was their cake topper!

And with a ribbon exit…they were off to Hawaii!

Allison + Peter,

I hope you had a wonderful time on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Being that this was the place they filmed Jurassic Park and one of my FAVORITE television series LOST, I hope you found what you were searching for on the island!

We had a wonderful time photographing your wedding. I knew your wedding would be special and it truly was an honor. I look up to you both so much as artists and as people and I’m so happy I was able to be a small part of a beautiful event.

Live Simply, Love Freely,

Catherine
