Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We live in Miami and our friends and family are spread across the US so it was a destination wedding for us and for most of our guests. New Orleans is Cory’s hometown and the city now carries a very special meaning for both of us. We wanted our wedding to have good music and good food–and what better place than New Orleans for that.
We picked the JW because it was central and easy for most of our guests to explore the city and we loved the balconies overlooking Canal Street. We chose to have our ceremony at Academy of Sacred Heart because we loved that it was an intimate chapel with beautiful architecture and we were able to have the priest that married Cory’s mom and stepfather officiate our wedding.
What was your favorite wedding purchase?
I can’t pick just one! All of our vendors — they made the day possible and so memorable for us.
What was your best wedding day memory?
Seeing Cory’s face as I walked down the aisle. We also had a great time dancing at our reception and being surrounded by all of our closest friends and family on such a special day.
How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
Cory and I love collecting koozies whenever we go to a new city so we designed a koozie as a wedding favor for our guests. We also really love music and sports so we worked really closely with our DJ to put together our wedding playlist and Cory also had our DJ give updates on the score of LSU game. One of our favorite details was a last minute decision to use a coffee table cookbook we have at home that Cory’s mom had bought us when we first started dating. We haven’t cooked anything from it (yet) but we used the book as our guestbook and had guest’s look through and sign a page with their favorite recipe. Now whenever we eventually decide to cook a recipe from it, we’ll have a sweet message from our guests.
