“What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?”

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but Really loves you, then you become Real.”

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.

“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”

“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get all loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

This excerpt from the Velveteen Rabbit was read during Angelena + Greg’s Las Vegas wedding. And just as Richard finished the excerpt Angelena wiped her tear filled eyes and mouthed the words “I love you.” to Greg. They wanted a wedding that was Simple, Easy, and Modern. It was all that and more.

The wedding was held at the Springs Preserve, a green and environmentally friendly venue that really gave them the colorful and memorable wedding they dreamed of. Being there at such a beautiful venue with such an incredible couple was more than I can describe in words and I am so honored to have been there to document their day:

We stayed at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The hotel looks SO much bigger….everything there looks SO much bigger in real life.

The Mirage has a similar feel in its lobby area to the Preserve so it served as a beautiful spot for photographing a few details.

Angelena’s jewelry was absolutely beautiful.

On the first floor of the Mirage was the Kim Vo Salon where Angelena had her hair and makeup done. Her makeup looked AH-mazing.

All the while, Greg and his groomsmen were relaxing in the hotel. Thanks to Amelia for this shot below…

While the girls were helping Angelena into her gown, with Vegas in the background…

….Richard brought a little bit of Vegas into the hotel.

Such an Angelena + Greg photo.

We were definitely not in Louisiana! And while everyone was enjoying the cool down here…it was not so cool there.

The desert backdrop served as the perfect location for the bridal party photos. Thank you so much to all of you for trusting me and climbing up on these rocks for the shot!!!

Gorgeous, Angelena!

You.Are.Beautiful. 🙂

Greg had one photo request; and if a groom has a photo request, I’m ON it! He wanted to take a few shots by the exposed steel rotunda (rotunda/rotundra) I can never decide….I think Angelena said Rotunda. So, he wanted to take a few shots by the Rotunda and we did!

He especially wanted a shot of him with his groomsmen here.

Gettin’ Silly With It

After the group photos, Angelena + Greg spent some time with Amelia and I shooting around the preserve. It was pretty hot but they stuck it out. The temperature wasn’t the only hot thing in Vegas.

….such a beautiful couple….

When I first arrived to the ceremony location, my jaw dropped. It’s so elegant and I love the way the light filtered through the grape vines.

This place is amazing.

There are so many random shots of Greg…lol. Photo By Amelia.

And another beautiful shot by Amelia.

As Angelena made her way through the lush preserve, Greg’s eyes followed her all the way to him.

As the sun set, the ceremony began.

I thought it was really neat how Greg + Angelena incorporated both Greg’s brother-in-law Todd and Angelena’s good friend Richard into the ceremony as the officiant and the reader.

This is my favorite shot from the ceremony. This was taken just as Richard was finishing the excerpt from the Velveteen Rabbit, right after Angelena mouthed to Greg that she loved him.

Mr. and Mrs. Greg Zerangue

Only one of the millions of cool things about a destination wedding is that you can take a photo…and everyone can be in it!

Brad would have died if he’d have seen how incredible this place was. The architecture was so modern and yet so rustic. This was taken at the entrance to the cocktail and reception area.

Orderves were served.

And Angelena + Greg had their first dance as husband and wife.

LOVE

The sit down dinner gave everyone the chance to visit and enjoy each others company.

Wolfgang Puck’s catering was just as beautiful and as appetizing as everyone had hoped. Even Amelia and I had the chance to sit and enjoy the lavish meal thanks to Angelena + Greg and Angelena’s parents.

After the meal concluded, the dancing shoes went on…and the dancing began.

Michelle, YOU rock.

Nice, Richard!

The atmosphere was really made complete with the lighting and the music! I think I’ve downloaded have of Angelena’s play list since the wedding.

I told Angelena a few times on the trip that she’s so fortunate! Not only is she beautiful now, but she is also destined to be beautiful forever since she takes after her mother!

Angelena, you are even beautiful when you’re dancing…

Congratulations you two!

Angelena + Greg,

If you’re wedding is ANY indication of what your life will be like together….you’re in for a lifetime of some extreme fun. I struggled finding the words to describe your wedding. Somehow Amazing and Incredible just don’t cut it! It was truly an opportunity that I cannot thank you enough for giving me. Amelia and I really enjoyed being in Las Vegas and none of this would have been possible with you. If you ever decide to have another wedding celebration…I’m there. 😉 You and Greg have such a fun and happy go lucky relationship; and you definitely know how to have a good time together. I hope you enjoyed your wedding and that it was all you dreamed of!
