What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Intimate, Sentimental, Spirit-Filled
Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
Jonathan & I’s marital order of events may seem unconventional to most, but that’s just our story!
Once we got engaged, we began planning a wedding, but then just decided to get married! We had a very personal ceremony which was perfect for us, but it left out the celebration & blessings from family. So, we made a decision to continue planning the “wedding”, which had now become a vow renewal!
When it came time to select a venue, I instantly fell in love with L’Eglise! It’s a very unique location that offered a quiet atmosphere & beautiful gardens. Once my eyes fell upon the aged vines that covered the cement columns, I knew that was where I wanted to renew our vows. Our reception was in the restored former church. L’Eglise was the perfect place for our mixture of a wedding & vow renewal. It was an absolute dream!
What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Flea Market finds were actually my favorite purchases! I decided to write letters to the closest people in my life, which are: my husband, my mother & my father. I enclosed their letters inside of the sentimental pieces I hand picked for them & I gave them as gifts. They opened their presents while getting ready and each moment was very special to me. Seeing my favorite people smile (and cry) was priceless, it touched my heart dearly
What is your favorite wedding memory?
My favorite memory was when it started raining! Since I was a little I’ve always loved bad weather & I can remember saying, “I wouldn’t mind if it rained on my wedding day…It would make me happy!” Well would you know, that came to pass! Everybody had already done us the courtesy of moving the chairs & decor inside when we arrived. Jonathan & I were sitting in the car when the event coordinator came running up with an umbrella telling us we needed to make a decision. I had a vision for our vow renewal when I selected the location and I didn’t want that to change on the account of some unexpected rain. So we decided to wait out the weather and it couldn’t of been a better choice! I vividly remember getting out of the car with my husband and running through the rain to a dry place. In that simple moment, time could have just stopped. Life is what you make of it & sometimes running through the rain with your husband changes from being a small thing, to a really significant one.
Did you create any details yourself? How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
ALL of the details were created by us…you could say creativity runs in our blood! 🙂 Family was really involved with the design of this event! My mothers employers at Paul’s Jewelry provided us with gorgeous frames that showcased our pictures. My cousin Allison lent us lots of decorations that she used at her own wedding. My sister-in-law Jessie & niece Whitney created all of the floral arrangements. My mother-in-law Terry made and painted the beautiful cookies that we had as dessert. Our good friends The Broussard’s opened up their stunning vintage home to us to get ready. I did add my own touch by creating the invitations & coloring book for the kids table. Everyone really pitched in to make our day unforgettable & for their help we are truly grateful! What is your wedding song?
