What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Romantic, Vintage, Sentimental.
Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
Our wedding ceremony was held in the chapel at the Academy of the Sacred Heart Grand Coteau, where I went to high school. It was a special place for me because I have so many wonderful memories out there. Patrick and I love the natural beauty of the grounds: there is a wonderful oak ally and lovely gardens. Also, the historic wooden chapel suited our style perfectly.
What is your favorite wedding purchase?
I was really happy my mom convinced my to buy cowboy boots for the reception. They were a lot of fun to show off and super comfortable to help me get in the dancing mood!
What is your favorite wedding memory?
My absolute favorite wedding memory was after the ceremony, Patrick and I found ourselves absolutely alone, sitting in the rain in the limousine, waiting for an umbrella so that we could enter the reception. This was the first time we could take a deep breath and enjoy what we had just experienced. We both had a nice moment to sit quietly before all the excitement of the reception would kick up again and it was really special to share that between time.
Did you create any details yourself? How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
Yes! I am a graphic designer and I adore printmaking, so I worked a good bit of my own designs into our wedding details. I designed our save-the-date cards and was able to work in a visual of the tin can telephones Patrick and I had strung between our bedrooms when we first started dating (we were next door neighbors). I also designed our wedding invitation suite, website (I coded it too!), programs, reception napkins, cups, and coffee stirrers, as well as the koozies and magnets that we gave as gifts to our wedding guests. I was also able to put together materials for the welcome bags at the hotel: I block printed gold “Joie de Vivre” tote bags and designed door hangers and maps.
What is your wedding song?
Into the Mystic by Van Morrison
I dream of clients like Marie + Patrick. They’re creative, sweet, and so in love. They treat each other with respect and admiration that made my job SO easy. It was a crazy day…the weather was rainy and somewhat darker than a typical afternoon. But this couple never let the weather “rain on their day” so to speak. Everything was perfect and I’m excited to share a few of my select favorites (although it was so so hard to choose!) from their wedding!!!
