Yesterday, I took on a commercial job with Onezieme Mouton. He is in the process of preparing for the NY International Gift Fair: a trade show created for designers to display their products in the hopes that buyers such as Banana Republic, Anthropologie, and Bergdorf Goodman will purchase the products for sale in their retail stores. Sellers from all over come to New York for this inspiring event; and have the potential to be covered by magazines such as Marie Claire, InStyle, Glamour, and Elle.
When Onezieme asked me to photograph his new bag line for the show I was flattered. He plans to place the images in his booth to draw attention to his beautiful design and exquisitely execute bags. These modern leather-weaved bags come in a variety of colors ranging from black, to a deep red or mustard yellow. They vary in size from clutch-sized to laptop-sized (with others in between) and are finished in either a suede like finish known as ‘Explorer’ or a shiny leather finish known as ‘Georgia.’
The shoot was an all day event for us and we wrapped up the session with the final edits around midnight last night. At that point, I think we were both so tired…I didn’t even mind eating my salad without the fork I didn’t have. 🙂 I even had the chance to see a hasselblad in action. Onezieme (before becoming involved as an architecture professor and product designer) studied photography. So, the shoot was a collaboration which I enjoyed.
I am excited to share with all of Onezieme’s bags. Since I’ve recently joined pinterest I was reminded of how much I LOVE beautiful things, beautiful details, and truly find joy in documenting them. So, here are a few of my favorite images from Onezieme’s line. They are not yet released to the market but I will keep you posted on the process for sale in the future.
I love every color. The range of colors really created two of my favorite shots (the one above and below).
This is the front and back view of every color in the medium sized bag.
The leather is fine…AND sturdy. Onezieme will be located in the Details section of the Gift Fair,
so he felt it important to highlight all the details and refined elements of the bags.
These are the different sizes ranging from clutch to laptop size and the two finishes that come in every color below. I want them ALL!
I am a huge fan of the execution in detailed and intricate design for his branding.
This was Onezieme’s favorite shot from the day which he plans to display at bigger than life size in New York.
I am so honored to have been asked to photograph such a beautiful line. Onezieme has inspired me to push the boundaries in my own goals and I wish him the best of luck in his. I know the response to his product will be great in New York…and who knows, maybe he’ll remember me when he’s famous. 🙂
Live Simply, Love Freely,
Catherine
