Last week, I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Lindsey Rogers for her photo mentoring session! Aside from the fact that we ate lots of king cakes and bonded over coffee we talked lots about photography!!! It’s so much fun to see someone so full of energy and excitement, ready to take on the world!
Lindsey is in the early stages of her photo career. Currently she’s focusing on portraits (specifically newborns and families) and is looking to explore more in the wedding industry as well (primarily as a second shooter).
As for me, I absolutely love hosting mentor sessions because it gives me the chance to grow and learn from teaching! I am SO passionate about photography and I absolutely LOVE this industry. And I believe if we all grow together, empowering each along the way, the industry as a whole will only be better becuase of it!
Lindsey arrived with a list of questions that we jumped immediately to tackling! For example:
* What or who would you suggest to build a website? How did you go about putting yours togerher?
* What workshops would you recommend? (In order to benefit a photographer just starting out!)
* What things inspire your blog and the topics that you write about?
* How did you get started with editorial photography? And where should I send my work?
* What’s your blogging and/or social media posting process?
* What vendors do you use for albums, album design, and products?
* How do you print, file, and ship orders?
* What are your thoughts on social media and marketing? When do you post and why don’t you watermark?
And we DID get through the entire list and more! 🙂
If you or someone you know is interested in a one-on-one photo mentor session please feel free to contact me either through my website (www.catherineguidry.com) or via email: catherine@catherineguidry.com
After the one-on-one Lindsey sent me the sweetest gift and note…and I just had to share. It truly fills my heart to know that I’m able to impact the industry one talented photographer at a time:
Dear Catherine,
I can not thank you enough for the experience and knowledge you shared with me for our one-on-one photography mentoring session! Your love and passion for photography shines bright and I am so grateful you are now helping growing photographers, like myself, to gain industry knoweledge. Through your accomplishments, trials, errors, and beautiful photographs you are able to give advice to others. Your business tactice, shooting, booking clients, social media insight was so helfpful for my understanding the bones of what makes a photographer successful. I am implementing many things into my day-to-day practice already and I am seeing a positive change! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for encouraging others to live their dream and helping me realize photography is both fun and profitable with a few key tips.
All the best,
Lindsey Rogers
