Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
We decided to get married outside at Rip Van Winkle Gardens because we’ve both always wanted to get married outside in nature. I guess it helped that we happened to pick Earth Day as our wedding date. The grounds are so gorgeous and diverse and the breeze coming from the lake was perfect!
What was your favorite wedding day detail?
I love all the sentimental details we had. I had my mom’s engagement ring and my grandmother’s engagement ring as my earrings.
What was your best wedding day memory?
We can’t decide between our first look or hearing each other’s vows. We were so excited to see each other and get to spend time together on our wedding day, so the first look was one of our favorite memories. We also really loved each other’s vows as they meant so much to us. We still get teary eyed when we think of the moment we had reciting our vows! Both are such great memories that we will cherish forever.
How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
We had light sabres as our send off and our intro song was the Star Wars theme song, so it was nice to include some nerdy touches to the wedding. I also think our vows really reflected our personalities, I was so happy that we wrote our own. We also had bag pipes play during the processional which was something we really loved having.
