Having a planner present on the wedding day, ensuring that the event runs smoothly, is such a valuable asset.
I’ve heard past clients say that the biggest regret from their wedding process was not having a planner. Although photographers are there to assist with keeping the day flowing according to the schedule created, there’s nothing like having someone dedicated solely to the flow and details of the day.
Photographers often fall into planning when no planner exists, but this can come at a sacrifice to the photography. We, as photographers, step in to coordinate because we realize it MUST be done in order for the ceremony and/or events to start when and where they should (especially for outdoor weddings) but again, having a planner there is so incredibly helpful! With light fading quickly here in the South, time is of the essence. And having a great experience on your wedding day is…priceless.
A planner is valuable because they can be there to make sure that all of your details are setup properly, escort family/friends/guests to the appropriate places, coordinate vendors and assist with helpful moments like pinning bouttonnieres and preparing for the toast.
Another part of the day thing that couples may overlook…is the take-down. Planners can take care of these things and more, leaving the couple and their families stress-free.
As photographers, we are there by the bride and groom’s side for the entire day. And in that position, we are able to see what helps to make their day extra special.
If I could offer a word of advice…it would be to hire a planner who will help you, guide you, and do everything in their power to make your day all that you dreamed it would be.
