Whether you’ve only became recent friends or you’ve known them since kindergarten, your groomsmen are bros that hold a special place in your life. A great gesture to show how much they mean to you is to give them a gift for agreeing to stand with you on the altar.  Here’s a concise yet helpful guide that will aid you on your quest in choosing gifts for your groomsmen.

Who gets the gifts?

Usually, it’s the groom’s duty to give gifts to the guys of the wedding entourage. Traditionally, this group consists of the best man, the groomsmen, the ushers, the ring bearer, the groom’s father, and the father of the bride. Sometimes, instead of a single gift per father, couples opt to give joint gifts for the parents. This is, of course, is discussed with the bride.

Outside of the wedding entourage, small party favors are given to the wedding attendees, but these are gifts split and decided together by the bride and the groom. A small token of appreciation is sometimes also given to the officiant and clergy members.

How much should it cost?

The average cost of groomsmen gifts is about $30 to $40 per groomsman. This can either be lower or higher depending on where you’re at in life.

If you’re fresh out of college and just landed an entry level job, it’s understandable to only shell out 10$ to 15$ per gift. But if you and your buddies are at better financial positions and have been traveling the world with your own money, something around $100 would be better.

Ultimately, your gift shouldn’t be dictated by how much it costs alone. Maybe there’s a set of beer steins you know for sure you and your bros will enjoy using every weekend. Even though these steins might be below the average cost, you should get them if you think they would be the perfect gifts for your buddies.

What are appropriate gifts?

The best gifts are appropriate gifts. It wouldn’t make sense to buy one of your buddies an intricately-designed flask if he doesn’t drink. Consider what their interests are when you select a gift.

A great way to show gratitude for your bros is to give them great groomsmen gifts. From watches and cufflinks to funky socks and phone cases, almost anything can be personalized to give it a more authentic and sentimental touch.

You also don’t have to give the same item to every groomsman. It is important to consider giving each one an appropriate gift that suits their lifestyle. These are the kinds of gifts that won’t just be collecting dust on a shelf. It also shows that you truly know them as a friend.

Gifts don’t also have to be always tangible. You can book them for an experience you know you guys will enjoy such as a  weekend surfing getaway or tickets to an NBA Playoffs game.
