What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Collaborative, Once-in-a-Lifetime, Festive
Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
Emily grew up here. She went to school at St. Marks and her late mother taught French here. She considers this school and cathedral like a second home. Our children will go here.
What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Emily – My wedding dress, of course. A very fun and memorable shopping experience in Dallas with my wonderful family and friends (my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, matron of honor and my maid of honor).
Chris – My favorite purchase or in this case, my most unexpected purchase was Emily’s drop pearl diamond earrings. I knew that she wanted them so badly. Our jeweler, Mrs. Lynn McCary Thomas, loaned Emily these earrings for her bridal portraits and she loved them so much that she didn’t want to give them back. So I stuck it out and made the commitment. I knew what Mrs. Lynn was doing!!!!
What was your best wedding day memory?
Chris – My favorite wedding memory was the first look, well kinda first look picture before the ceremony. My heart was literally beating out of my chest. This moment was probably the most anxious I’ve ever been in my life. In a good way. By holding her hand, I knew I wasn’t alone and everything would be alright.
Emily – I have three. Haha. As I walked down the aisle and seeing Chris for the first time that day. Riding on the trolley to the reception was so much fun and very memorable. And leaving the reception with the sparklers were all my favorites.
Did you create any details yourself? How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
-We created a ton! Chris drew our M insignia for our programs which we (with our friend Kris) made by hand! Also, Chris design the koozies, cups programs and favors. Their favors were cajun blend seasoning
-There were also several family heirlooms including Emily’s right hand ring from her late mother; Chris’s wedding band from his grandfather; cufflinks from his great-grandfather.
