Travis’s close friends had been encouraging him to get to know Nikki before they ever had the chance to speak. So, he had his eye on her from the start. When lunchtime rolled around on an average day at Women & Children’s hospital, Nikki was sharing healthy home made soup with everyone…including Travis. So, Travis took this as an opportunity and offered to pay her back with crawfish. He was anxious and excited from then and even to this day…I can still see the excitement in his eyes when he’s with Nikki, and now Nikki’s excitement for him as well.

Nikki and Travis wanted a wedding that was fun, simple, and magical. Their vision for the day was slightly rustic and Nikki’s favorite detail was an an antique locket that her mom and sister hunted down and filled with pictures of her maternal and paternal grandparents. Their music was also SO important to them on the day.  Travis loves swamp pop/dancing music and Nikki loves New Orleans brass bands and local jazz. On their wedding day, they compromised. But more than all the details, they were fortunate to share their day with so many loving friends and family members. 🙂

Travis + Nikki, Amelia and I have both been raving about you since the wedding. Getting to know such a genuine and loving couple was a true joy. You made us feel so welcome and so special. You were patient and excited when it came to your photography and you trusted us. Thank you for being you…and for letting us in. Your love really comes through when you’re together and I’m so happy that God has blessed you with each other.

I started the day, like every wedding day, photographing the details. I adored the way Nikki really had a vision for her wedding. So I wanted to stay true to that vision in the styling. Below, are Nikki’s garters. LOVE.

I think this is one of the cutest things I’ve seen..lol. Nikki + the girls dressed up the dogs in wedding attire. 🙂

I adore Nikki’s bouquet. So beautiful!

Speaking of beautiful…here’s Nikki as she got her hair done on her wedding day! Thanks to Kristen + Dustti for hair/makeup!

Nikki + Trav really couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day….

So we definitely took the chance to shoot a bit outdoors in their matching prep shirts gifted by Nikki.

For me, there were a lot of firsts for Nikki’s wedding. Including these details.

The Mother of the Bride and Maid of Honor hangers were the first I’ve seen. I think it was very special that she included them in the dress shot!

Travis is such a thoughtful gentleman. He made sure to ask Nikki’s sister ahead of time to pull Nikki aside on the day of the wedding…put on some music and gift her with this sweet letter and a beautiful set of pearl earrings.

As you can see, Nikki was extremely touched by Trav’s words. She also thought it was so funny that they both ended their letters with “1, 2, 3….break!”

I really love this shot of Nikki + her mom. There are so many wonderful moments that happen on a wedding day.

Ladies, you are gorgeous!

…and the blue, is so elegant!

It was quite the emotional day for the family and friends as well..

This is one of my favorite emotional moments…captured by Amelia.

I love the idea that the guys were able to walk from the Guggenheim to St. Peter’s for the ceremony.

So cool, guys! Travis bought sunglasses for each of his groomsmen and I like that Amelia was able to incorporate this style into their groomsmen shots.

And the suspenders….LOVE.

Nikki + Travis were surprised with this sign on the Marquee of the Evangeline!

Travis + Nikki opted not to do the First Look for their wedding day,

so these images were taken just minutes before the wedding as they anxiously waited to see each other.

Travis reaction was very touching….as he just let the tears roll down his cheeks.

Nikki was practically glowing as she walked down the aisle!

The was taken just as she glanced over at her mom. AH! So moving…

During the vows, Nikki tried her best to hold back the tears. But regardless…they still came.

The seconds after their first kiss as husband and wife, they just held each other and smiled.

Amelia grabbed this shot during the ceremony..and it just cracks me up!

Travis + Nikki expressed their thanks to God and I believe in this time, they were just so happy and giving thanks.

Travis + Nikki were able to secondline from St. Peter’s to the Guggenheim for the reception!

Their guests LOVED it…and were able to be outside enjoying the gorgeous weather.

It’d be safe to say that Trav + Nikki enjoyed it as well!

What I love about photography and shooting weddings, is the unexpected. As Travis + Nikki were secondlining to their reception, this woman ran up and placed money in Nikki’s dress. It was SO much fun..and was really a neat, unexpected instance.

When we made it to the Guggenheim, the police actually blocked off the road in order for us to take this shot on Main Street. I believe it’s my favorite of the bridal party!

Just before the reception, Nikki, Travis, and I spent some time outside the venue shooting just the two of them together.

The beautiful thing about Travis and Nikki is the lovely, and natural way they interact with each other.

So sweet!!! AH!

Their first dance as husband and wife.

The way he looks at her….

Amelia had the great idea of shooting the exit from a unique perspective. I think this is one of my favorite exit shots…ever!

Congratulations to Nikki + Travis, I wish you a lifetime of happiness! Thank you so much for choosing us to document your day!

Happy Friday!

Catherine
