Ellen + Wes have known each other for years. And about 4 years ago, their paths became one. It’s been such a pleasure working with these two, we even had a shoot prior to the wedding that I encourage you to check out. Ellen wore her mother’s wedding gown and Wes came along for a portion of the shoot. You can also view Ellen’s bridals here

They are both pretty laid back so they wanted their wedding to have that same casual feel. Ellen combined her interior design background with Wes’s farming career to create a rustic and vintage wedding, with an equal amount of elegance. Soft Blues, Grays, White, & Silver all came together to create their color palette; and her favorite purchases were her wedding gown and the vintage tractor she found to put on Wes’s cake.

The day couldn’t have gone more smoothly…and I’m excited to finally blog a preview of their day!

Ellen really did think of it all. I adore these gorgeous robes and I know the girls felt fabulous in them!

Ellen made so many of the details  including these boutonnieres and the mini basket for her flower girl’s wrist.

Having an awesome prep spot like Maison D’Memoire really suited Ellen’s wedding perfectly.

It especially came into play for her getting ready and detail images. I love that Ellen thought of thiswhen choosing the location!

 Ellen, you are so beautiful!

Ellen also made wristlets for the mothers and this bible on the right was carried by Hayden!

Ellen also made the bridesmaids’ bouquets and a bouquet on the right for the flower girl. She actually had a FEW options to choose from!

Meanwhile, Amelia met up with Wes and his groomsmen for some formal photos. Amongst the formal photos, I like this one the most.

I suppose this shot isn’t so “formal;” I love that they were having fun!

Ellen was also especially excited about her bouquet.

Ah! This blue on these gorgeous girls…lovely!

We went outside as the sun was setting to grab these shots of Ellen + her bridesmaids just before the ceremony.

Ellen made this bouquet to reflect on Wes’s passion and career as a rice farmer.

This was the moment they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day!

The wedding was held at St. Joseph’s, a beautiful church.

For the vows, Ellen + Wes knelt before God and their bridal part stood by as witnesses to this awesome moment.

I love when churches give us the opportunity to stand on the sides of the alter. It allows us to catch fun expressions like these!

Their first kiss as husband and wife!

 Mr. and Mrs. Wes Simon

We spent some time after the formal photos shooting inside of the church!

Wes’s grandfather also brought his vintage car to take them to the reception!

These two photos are some of my favorites from their wedding day!

Again at the reception, every corner was touched by Ellen’s creativity.

Even the ceiling was decorated. To the right is the vintage tractor Ellen loved so much for Wes.

Their cake was so unique. I thought the table decor and texture of the cake suited their wedding perfectly!

To the left, I grabbed this sweet image of Ellen + Hayden together. LOVE.

 The Newlyweds!

I can only imagine the amount of effort that went into their special day.

They even had a sweets table “for the kiddos”.

I thought the image on the right shows just how “out of the box” Ellen thinks. The warehouse has these compartments near the grooms table,

which Ellen filled with the Vintage birds she had displayed throughout the venue.

The reception was a blast and at the end of the night, Ellen + Wes exited through a tunnel of friends, under sparklers.

 Ellen + Wes,

Thank you so much for allowing us to be there, documenting and being a part of your day. Your wedding day was beautiful, not only due to the attention and effort of detailing your wedding visually, but most importantly because you two were committing to spend the rest of your lives together. I wish you and Wes a lifetime of love and happiness, and I cannot wait for you to see the rest of your wedding images!

Stay Simply Modern,

Catherine
