Wes and Ellen’s story began long before they started dating. In fact, they grew up together. As we all know, love is a factor of so many things…one being timing. So, when the timing was right, their love story began.
Wes + Ellen have been dating for quite some time now and had talked about their future plans and marriage over the years.Β Ellen had even chosen a ring but was completely surprised when Wes actually proposed.
Ellen was busy getting ready for a date night with Wes, when she walked out to find him there…down on one knee!
I couldn’t be more excited for these two and happy to be a part of their wedding! Ellen and Wes wanted to do something a different for their session. I always enjoy photographing couples before the wedding day because it gives us the chance to work together and establish a relationship. Ellen + Wes opted to do somewhat of a styled shoot for their session.
Ellen wore her mother’s gown which was not only sentimental for her but stylistically fitting and Wes wore his suit. Ellen incorporated Wes’s farming background through the rice in his boutonniere and her bouquet (both of which she made on her own).
I think props have to be used correctly in order to be fitting and believable…Ellen definitely did her part in helping to make this shoot a success.
I love that Ellen took the opportunity to do her shoot a little differently.
She found and used things that were not only sentimental but beautiful too! What do you think of this idea?! π Leave your comments below!

Love this!! Beautiful images, Cat!!!
What a beautiful shoot. I’m sure her mother really enjoyed the photographs as well. The incorporation of the rice is also really creative and sentimental. Beautiful photos, as always!
Ellen & Wes are two of the sweetest, truest friends I have ever known! Ellen- so confident, beautiful, and such a perfect way to capture the love of you and Wes in your mom’s dress! Cat you did a phenomenal job on their pictures! & P.S. I must say I take a little credit for being matchmaker π <3
Cat, it was so nice to see you at the wedding! These pictures are beautifully done! Ellen’s mother was married in the house I now live in in 1980, little historical fact for you. π She looks amazing in her mother’s dress. Amazing.
