I could barely sleep the night before I left, and since I hopped on that 7:00 AM flight out of Lafayette, it’s been crazy. Walking around Las Vegas is more like a hiking trip or a marathon. There are a TON of people here; during the trade show I could barely move!
I plan to do a full post on my very first WPPI experience later, but for now I wanted to talk a bit about the event last night. We attended the Women in Photography Panel which included a panel of 9 wonderful women + photographers. It was very interesting and toward the end, each had their own tip for business owners:
- Lindsey Adler: Spend time learning about and mastering business.
- Joy + Jules Bianchi: Decide on and capitalize on your speciality or niche and be sure to network.
- Jessica Claire: Grow at your own rate.
- Kay Eskridge: Become involved in the community.
- Catherine Hall: Value your work as an artist.
- Jasmine Star: Showcase who you are.
- Dawn Shields: Share with others.
- Sarah Petty: Be cautious in decision making, especially regarding pricing and finances.
So far, the WPPI Las Vegas experience has been incredible, and I’ve really enjoyed learning from and meeting so many wonderful people.
I was also extremely touched by Roberto Valenzuela’s platform; I believe it’s had the most impact on me thus far of any platform. His culture and background is one that’s known to do more with less. That’s how he learned, and after attending his platform I walked away feeling like I could do anything.
And MOST importantly, we’re continuing to have a lot of fun….
