Last night at Park Sans Souci, there was a candlelight vigil held for Mickey Shunick. Hundreds of locals from Lafayette came together in hopes that Mickey will come home safely. There was prayer, silence, and some words of hope shared amongst the crowd. At the end, even a chant to “BRING MICKEY HOME.”
Although I do not personally know Mickey…I think everyone there and so many from the area feel touched by this devastating event. According to the news, around 2AM early Saturday, Mickey was riding her bike home from the Saint Streets to her home near Ambassador and Congress St. And she hasn’t been seen since. Today is my birthday and from what I understand, her birthday was this week and that really hit home for me.
I chose to blog about this today because I realize the power of social networking and I hope that this can also help spread the word and the awareness. At this point, it’s been 4 days since anyone has seen Mickey.
Please keep your eyes and ears open as well as your heart and prayers to her friends and family in what I can only imagine to be the hardest and most difficult time of their lives. Below are the images of Mickey that are being shared via facebook. Feel free to take a screenshot of her photo and share it on your profile as well. At this point she could be anywhere so even if you’re not from Lafayette, please help share the word.
Below are few shots from last night’s candlelight ceremony…..
Help share the images and grow the awareness so that hopefully she can be found and return home safely….
