I would never say I work alone. I mean, besides the fact that I try to sneak Chaos wherever I can, I am actually referencing the fact that I rely quite a bit on professionals in other industries to help me where needed. I love photography and this is how I want to spend my time and my effort. So I tend to leave everything else to professionals in other fields.
Even when I am shooting a wedding, I always bring along an assistant or second shooter (when necessary) so I can really capture the moments like I want to. When I focus my attention on what’s priority, I allow myself to grow as a photographer.
Last Friday night, I was allowed to place myself in a unique position. Thanks to my friend Erin Falgout and fellow photographer (you may remember me talking about her in my coffee post), I was able to 2nd shoot with her at last Friday, giving me the chance to test out a few different techniques and just have fun.
Being in that position allowed me to be creative and to put myself in the shoes of my 2nd shooters. Next time, I will have an even better perspective on how we coordinate. When I shoot, I tend to take a photojournalistic approach for the day. On Friday, I was practically invisible.
I felt kind of like a sniper or undercover agent, and was able to move freely from preparation to venue, shooting details, and unnoticed moments.
We had a ton of fun. I REALLY enjoyed working with Erin (and Adam when he came later in the day), and I was able to do exactly what I wanted: Shoot, without pressure, and with an abundance of creative freedom π
So a H.U.G.E. thanks to them for letting me tag along; I am planning to do a full post on the shoot tomorrow. π
This photo was taken by Adam at their “Unbooth”…lol. I always enjoy their company.
