When I jumped out of bed this morning (well, at least closer to a jump than normal) I was ready to go.
I.am.not.a.morning.person.
So, when THIS morning, I jumped out of bed, I knew it would be a good day. I ate a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios (my favorite) and my mind starting going 100mph as soon as my spoon picked up the last grouping of cheerios. You see, for the past 5 days, I have been glued to my computer for Creative LIVE. If you’re not familiar with what that is, it’s a LIVE stream for photography, computer, and graphics seminars.
This weekend, rockstar, Jasmine Star & partner/husband JD was featured; and the opportunity to watch her in action in this way was unprecedented. For 5 days, I stayed all eyes on the screen as she talked about her process, inspiration, and actually shot a live wedding. It was a little odd being able to watch someone’s most personal and memorable moment of their lives over the internet, but I cried all the same. 😉
I am addicted to photography (but I assume the word passionate sounds better so we’ll use this word instead). I am PASSIONATE about photography; and any opportunity that I have to learn, I’ll take it. This past year has been a worldwind of workshops, organizations, meetings, & seminars and I have been nothing but blown away by the positivity of the industry (especially in the Lafayette/Baton Rouge/New Orleans areas) and the overall sense of leadership.
I know I am happy. For once, I can honestly say that God has led me right where I need to be. I am so thankful for the opportunity to wake up (typically more slowly than today) everyday excited to work. Ok…so my intention of this blog was to write the top 5 things I learned this weekend: (in no particular order)
1. I can never forget to be fearless and unafraid to take risks and create unique works of Art
2. Wedding Photography is 100% my calling.
3. I must learn to be more patient, even with myself.
4. I am only me; I cannot or do not want to be anyone other than who am I, and allow this to inform my work & my vision.
5. Beyond the stress, planning, and organization, up to the point of their wedding, the wedding day is by far the most important day of this couple’s life. And I am honored to be chosen to photograph these moments, these memories, and these couples as they embark on their journey together.
So, here’s to continuing to be inspired and taking part in many more memorable wedding days! Have a great Monday!

Your photos are beautiful!
This post is lovely!
I myself jumped out of bed ready to take on the world.
I have a feeling the world of photography is going to change dramatically and for the better!
Hey Stacey!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I am glad to see that Jasmine’s has affected so many people. Photography is definitely changing…everyday for the better! And I hope the photographers all over can continue to raise the bar. 🙂
Good! Now conquer the world:) This post made me smile, as always, but probably more than always. Two thumbs up. And also a toe.
Thanks Kaylynn! You make me smile too, and any day someone is willing to give me a toes up, I’ll take it!
I too was a had a little more pep to my get up this morning. 🙂 Can you believe the opportunity we all had the last 5 days? It has definitely changed my life. It is photographers like Jasmine Star that really help shape up and coming photographers. I have only done one wedding and it was a nightmare (it was for family) and I said I would stick to childbirth photography. But after watching creative live over the last few days it really has me wanting to give it another try. This time I will not photograph for family.
Good luck on your ventures! You have some amazing work!
Thanks Ann! It really was so nice hearing what Jasmine had to say. I couldn’t imagine doing childbirth photography; that’s amazing. Best of luck with your adventures to come!
