Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
St. Jude Catholic Church is where we attend mass each week. When we decided to get married in Baton Rouge (where we met and currently live), we knew St. Jude had to be a part of our day. The church has always felt very inviting and at home for us. Regarding the reception, we looked for a location that provided everything we needed for our day and was also simple in colors/décor. Lod Cook met those needs. It also helped that we both attended LSU. So, having our reception on the campus of LSU felt perfect.
What was your favorite wedding detail?
There are so many! I loved my dress and jewelry and felt beautiful with makeup/hair. I loved that we had so many family members able to attend. But the detail that surprised me the most that day were the flowers. I love fresh flowers, but I don’t necessarily have a favorite. So, I wasn’t exactly sure what my bouquet was going to include as I told our florists to stick with a “romantic type of color palette/feeling” and that was it. When the flowers arrived in the hotel, they were absolutely beautiful and smelled amazing. And wrapping my grandmother’s rosary around my bouquet, it made my bouquet that much more special.
What was your best wedding day memory?
Being on the altar with Charles and kneeling beside him with my hand held tightly in his. One of my favorite memories of wedding planning was picking readings together. When the readings began, I turned to Charles, smiled, and squeezed his hand. Just the way he looked back at me at the moment, I will always remember his smile.
What is your wedding song?
