“Don’t be surprised that people die, Be surprised that your still alive.” -Lacey Mosley (Flyleaf)
The night before last, I received a text from friend and fellow photographer Val,“Flyleaf, Story of the Year, and of course…shopping.”
Now…I’m not your average, love to go shopping kind of girl, HOWEVER, I am on a mission right now with my upcoming photoshoot by Kaylynn, so I’m forcing myself to enjoy it. 😉
So, Nat (Nappy…Nat…Natalie…still not sure exactly which she prefers) and Val pull up with film cameras in hand and high spirits for our spontaneous road trip. My tendency is to constantly sit at my computer, working…never seeing the light of day; so thanks to Val for forcing me to come! Without friends like her, I may very well have turned into an owl and become nocturnal by now.
And I’m so thankful she did…The entire day reminded me that life is not worth taking for granted, that every moment is precious and special. I was reminded to be thankful for what I have been given, and to do my best to live with purpose.
Meet Val & Nat:
(Now do you see why I had so much fun yesterday?)
We had the bright idea….(I think I was the culprit) of staging a quick shot in the entrance to the mall. I can only imagine what passerby’s where thinking…..
We definitely enjoyed the day, we talked photography and enjoyed each other’s company. I LOVE this girl; she’s got such a good heart and is always REAL. She and I attended Skip’s Summer School in Vegas together in July and totally hit it off.
I am thankful for these wonderful friends and for the reminder of just how precious life is. 🙂
Thanks so my snazzy iphone, I was able to grab these above. 🙂
Memento Mori (the name of Flyleaf’s newest CD) means that no matter who you are, we are all mortal. There is no king that won’t face a mortal death the same as a slave. So kings and slaves alike should make the most of life and love everyone as selflessly as possible. Tomorrow is another day, and kings can fall, becoming slaves, and slaves can be promoted to become kings.
