The process of being published has been a learning process for me. I can still remember sitting in on Skip’s Summer School lectures in the Summer of 2010 learning about this WHOLE new industry out there….this world consisted of beautiful images, fabulous inspiration, wedding bloggers <—-and I wanted to be in this world. Their interest in feature high quality photography of couples in love and wedding details to inspire became a goal of mine starting that day.
Right there, in that room, I made it a personal goal of mine to make all efforts to get published and to have the images of the couples I work with shared on these wedding blogs. Thanks my good friend Valerie of Southern Fete who pushed me to submit a wedding for the first time, I was accepted for publication for the first time in March of 2011. It was Kelly + Jason’s wedding, and it was accepted for publication on Style Me Pretty (one of my absolute favorite blogs out there!)
Since, I’ve become a member of Two Bright Lights and have integrated publication into my workflow. This has become something that I strive for and work toward as it is a huge honored to be featured and I LOVE a challenge!
Well, with all of this being said, you can imagine how elated I was when I opened my inbox to find an email congratulating me on my 2012 Editor’s Choice Award! This award states that I am in the top 5% of Two Bright Lights members who’ve had their weddings featured (based on the number of times my work has been accepted).
I am SO incredibly excited and thankful! And thanks to the wonderful couples that I work with, I am going to continue submitting work and hoping that they can be recognized in a larger arena for their fabulousness.
Wow! Congrats Cat! You deserve it! ( I don’t know why i’m surprised, because all your pictures are amazing anyway!) You go girl!
