As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, Alex is my 1st cousin, kinned to me on my mom’s side. My mom and his dad are brother and sister. Because we lived states apart growing up, my favorite memories with Alex were during the time I spent in Tennessee in college. So, you can imagine how honored I was when they asked me to photograph their wedding.
When I think of Alex, I picture his smile. His light-hearted and considerate personality is something to be admired…in addition to his way of always making others feel important. In getting to know Kelli, I believe she is truly his perfect match. Kelli also has the most beautiful smile and her soft, and sweet personality really suits Alex. They’re both super laid back and I can see that they really just love….LIFE.
Once they saw each other for their First Look, all the stress dissipated. We took photos in the forested area behind their venue and I got to really see how they enjoy each others company. Alex sneaks lots of kisses on Kelli’s cheek and she truly admires Alex as well. The ceremony was very nice, intimate and made extra special with their hand-written vows. Oh? And did I mention that their dogs Boomer and Apollo were part of the ceremony as well! LOL It was the cutest after Alex + Kelli kissed and they barked with excitement.
One of the many things I love about the fact that Alex + Kelli did a first look is that all of their “formal photos” were taken pre-ceremony. (Which meant that they went straight to greeting their guests). And although this is an older tradition I have never seen before…I LOVE that ALL of their guests lined up in a receiving line to congratule the Versen’s!!! They were able to hug and speak with every one before the reception even began!
The reception was just as they envisioned. The food was great and the company was perfect. I love that I was there to see Alex and Kelli get married and to document it through my own eyes. Alex, I’m so happy for you and Kelli. It meant the world to me that you had me there and I can only hope that these images always remind you of this very special day.
