Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your
I was a mess when it came to choosing a wedding dress! I swear I think I tried on over 100. I loved sooo many! I would’ve worn 5 wedding dresses if I could. I truly envy brides who say they end up with the first dress they ever tried on. I really wanted something unique and got too caught up in that. This dress was actually really far off from what I imagined I would choose. But, when I really thought about the type of wedding we were having – traditional, Catholic, New Orleans- it was perfect!
Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
With the wedding being in a Catholic church and a glitzy ballroom, I needed something that felt fancy but also classic. I love delicate lace, so at first I thought I’d go for a full lace gown. But I think I love structure a little more! I felt like this dress offered the best of those two! I kept going back to a deep v neckline throughout the process- it works well with my petite figure. The pockets and super long train were major added bonuses and really sold me!
How do you feel when you put on your dress?
I feel a rush of excitement! I joke that I still love playing dress up (and I do!) This feels like the most amazing/important “dress up” moment of my life!
Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
Every photo I’ve seen at MOH has been swoon-worthy. The arches and vaulted ceilings are a dream and it oozes historic charm. I really wanted our reception to be here, but it didn’t work out logistically. I knew I wanted a piece of the wedding here, and now I have these incredible photos to forever look back on.
Any advice for future brides embarking on this wedding journey?
Make a list of your non-negotiables or things that are the most important to you- make these things priorities and really execute those well. Don’t worry much about the other stuff because it’s so easy to get caught up in all the small details. Really take the time to enjoy your engagement and remember the day is about you and your partner! Let it be what you can’t yet imagine and wouldn’t plan even if you could. You’re starting your life with someone you couldn’t imagine life without- and that’s something so spectacular.
