.It’s the ability to do what I love every day.
.To Be Creative and think outside the box.
.Working hard not only for myself but for others.
.Seeing life from unique perspectives.
.Meeting new people and establishing friendships.
.Being myself and feeling appreciated.
For these reasons and more…I am thankful.
Recently, life has been busy…I’ve just wrapped up the busiest time of year for my business…and quickly moved into more summer shooting. Summer is busy with weddings but I’ve also had a bit of time to catch up and reflect.
One of the things I wanted to reflect on specifically, was the friendships I’ve developed over the years. Every year, I have the opportunity to meet so many lovely couples who let me into their lives and accept not just as their photographer, but their friend.
Spending so much time together during such intimate moments is very personal, and I am appreciative of their allowing me to be there, documenting these moments. I am usually sad when the wedding is over because we won’t see as much of each other, especially with some couples living out of town or out of state. But I do enjoy following everyone on social networks, catching up at coffee and dinners when possible, and just keeping in touch when and how we can. I have kept every note and offer of thanks from previous clients and I hope they all know how thankful I am as well!
At the end of Monique + Lindsay’s wedding, Monique gifted me with this beautiful Gardenia on the left. Although I haven’t been known to have a green thumb, I’ve taken extra good care of this plant because it reminds me of them….and it has flourished since!
I LOVE handwritten notes!!! My clients definitely know this by the end because I send them notes throughout the process…and I love that Natalie + John took the time to have my name embossed on thick letterpress so that I could continue to write notes to others. It was such a thoughtful gift!
It’s amazing to me that this is my career. It definitely has it’s hard times, but this is why I work so hard! I love to make others happy, and for these couples, these FRIENDS, it’s totally worth the effort.
I have heard others talk about their frustrations with work, or the feeling of being stuck behind a desk. I truly believe that EVERY person has that one talent or gift that God has given them. I encourage you to find out what that one thing is….and pursue it with full passion and effort.
Have a wonderful day!
