What adjectives best describe your wedding? Fun, Beautiful, Lively
Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there. We both are not from New Orleans but we absolutely love the city so we decided we should get married there. I chose il Mercato because it had that natural clean fresh spanish/french look that I love. I’m not sure how I describe the look I love but the venue was just perfect for it. I love the natural look with natural colors and also being laid back but formal at the same time.
What is your favorite wedding detail?
The fireplace mantle, the live painter Stephanie Torregrossa from Torregrossa Art + Design, the dress i wanted it to be classic but unique at the same time to showcase my personality and it was just that because from the front it looked like a classic wedding dress but when you see the back it had a cut out from the back shoulder blade and also the horse hair(not sure if thats the right word/fabric description) skirt was a separate piece so i could take it off after the second line and first dance and it looked like a dress you would wear to a formal event, the secondline, and of course the signature drinks that were named after our dogs hayden and minnie
What is your favorite wedding memory from the day?
Getting ready, doing the first look, being dressed up, seeing everyone that i love being there with us, the secondline and signature drinks, dancing on the dance floor with judson doing his michael jackson moves with everyones party favors of michael jackson gloves that lit up.
How did you incorporate your personalities into your wedding celebration?
Our friend robert hollingsworth was our officiant and he incorporated lyrics from a widespread panic song “may your glass be filled” and im a huge panic fan, we named our signature drinks after our dogs hayden and minnie instead of doing “his and hers” we had our “label/crest” that my sister made on the hankies, programs, koozies and cups. Judson had a king cake because hes from mobile and they have mardi gras there and he loves kings cake. Judson is also a huge michael jackson fan so we had michael jackson light up gloves as party favors on the dance floor, as well as masks for the guest. the food menu was a combo of things we both love to eat. i love art and so we had a live painter at the ceremony/reception that was amazing.
What is your wedding song?
Genesis by Widespread Panic, it was sung by my brother in law Jeff Smyth
