Since I finished architecture school, I have been in search of something to fill the desire to make tiny, intricate and beautiful detailed things. And I’VE FOUND IT! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thanks to Chrissy (Knitnamed Edna) for taking me under her knitting wing because it has become a complete addiction for me…seriously, any spare second I have, I’m whipping out my knitting needles. My friend Mike likes to call my new habit Scarfitecture. And I’ve noticed lately how old habits die hard:
- I never have less than 4 or 5 projects going on at a time…:)
- I still make the project 5 different ways before I decide which one looks best
- Picking yarn takes me F.O.R.E.V.E.R…..I make it my personal mission to find the perfect texture and color combo
- I like minimal/modern knitting patterns.
But my FAVORITE things about knitting is hanging out with my girlfriends and fellow “Stitches” Amelia, Anne, and Chrissy! I have so much to learn to keep up! My goal is to eventually have all of my friends knitting so we’ll have more excuses to get together.
I NEVER would have thought I’d say this, but I.LOVE.KNITTING. I have a few other projects that I’d like to photograph but in the meantime I wanted to post some of my recent creations! 🙂
The above scarf was made for my sister-in-law Minette. 🙂 It was a bit of a challenge because I wanted to try a new stitching pattern with two SUPER thick yarns! So hopefully it’ll keep her warm this winter season!!
The wine bottle cover is probably my favorite project so far. I love the detail in the pattern and the way the gold and white yarns look when knitted together. I am making them as gifts for Brad’s parents.
I knitted my very first beanie for Mike this Christmas!
I also fell in love with the scarf that Chrissy is wearing. 🙂 Yes…the Chrissy teaching me to knit. She’s SOOOO good! Never afraid to try new knitting techniques and SUPER SUPER patient. You have to be around me…lol. This scarf was made for my friend Gretchen and Chrissy was nice enough to model it for me. 🙂
This purple flowered scarf was made for Beth. 🙂 🙂 🙂 It’s 100% Beth.
And I was NOT sure about this one below at first. It’s for my 4-year old Godchild. But apparently 4 year olds LOOVEEE bright colors and dressing up.
This is my first and very own Chunky Braided Scarf! Chrissy and Amelia have been telling me that I should make a personal project. And so I did.
Learning to knit has been SO much fun. I tend to dive head first and full on when learning new things…and that’s exactly what I’m doing with knitting. 🙂 And my goal is simply to make projects for those I love.
If you are a knitter and just so HAPPEN to be reading this, I wanted to share a few links. There are two yarn shops in town that I adore: Yarn Nook and Vermillion Bay.
And if you love facebook and knitting, you HAVE to check out ravelry.com!! My ravelry name is CatherineGuidry.
Happy Knitting!
Great Job, Catherine! Ranger’s said he wants an orange knitted cap, and keep in mind he has a big head!
Awesome yarn work, girl! I started to pick up knitting a couple of years ago, but just really don’t have the time for it now. I still find projects to use yarn for though… just because I love yarn & fabric. 🙂
Catherine, Beth told me about your new hobby and since I am a knitter I just have to jump in and say “Yeah, Cat, you go, girl”!! I’m soooo impressed! My faves are the ones you and Chrissy are modeling. With your love for knitting I can tell that you’ll be as great a knitter as you are a photographer, and that is saying a lot. Keep up the great work and I’m hoping you’ll influence Beth, as it would be great to share with her one of the loves of my life. Love you lots, Joan
