What adjectives best describe your wedding?
Modern, Classic, Romantic
Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
It was not our first choice (only because we hadn’t thought of it) but when we eventually found it, we could not believe we had not thought of it sooner! Other options were either too big or too small; this one seemed just right! We could not pass up the view! But even more importantly, it is just a few blocks from where we will start our life. To be able to walk past the place where we made so many memories seemed perfect! It was a block away from almost everyone’s hotel and next door to the afterparty! We could not have picked a more convenient and special place!
What was your favorite wedding purchase?
My dress for sure! I’m still so in love with it!
What was your best wedding day memory?
The first look was definitely one of our favorites! Being able to have that intimate moment beforehand really made me feel relaxed and put all the chaos into perspective. It was the perfect way to become grounded before the most important part of the day.
Another favorite is a little note that I wrote for the flower girl to give to Brandon at the end of the aisle. I wasn’t able to see her give it to him, but he says that this was one of his favorites and I am so glad! I had planned on doing this since the beginning- the note read: ” I can’t believe you’re Brandon. I can’t wait to marry you!” – We say “I can’t believe you’re Brandon” and I can’t believe you’re Amy” all the time- still in disbelief that we ended up together after so many years of being in each others lives.
How did you incorporate your personalities into the wedding?
The painting displayed at the guestbook table was actually a painting that Brandon did himself the month of the wedding. It’s a painting of a picture that was taken of us at his sister’s wedding. The background of the painting is all of our letters written to each other. This is absolutely one of my favorite details. I hand painted the succulents that were placed around the reception venue with gold leaf paint, in keeping with the gold detail theme. Brandon’s groom’s cake was another one of my favorite details that was a surprise for him. I had Fairy Dust Cakes recreate his proposal video using his exact artwork. Displayed next to the cake was the video itself, for those that hadn’t seen it yet. I love strawberry cake so I made sure to incorporate my favorite flavor into out wedding cake- So the entire wedding cake was strawberry inside 🙂 Brandon and his mom, being accustomed to traditional Mexican wedding receptions wanted to include the props- sombreros, mustaches, blow up cactus, etc. We loved the idea and it added the perfect nod to his Mexican family, while bringing in tons of fun!
What is your wedding song?
You and I- John Legend. We chose this song because it was in his proposal video, and always reminds us of that moment.
