The wedding day is divided into many parts including the prep (the craziness of getting read) :), pre-wedding formals, first look, couples session, family formals, ceremony, reception formals….and what I like to call the LAST HOUR. The LAST HOUR is literally the last hour of the wedding day, right before the exit.
When I show up to shoot a client’s wedding, I am showing up to document the ENTIRE experience. I arrive approximately 3 hours before the ceremony and I stay until the couple physically exits the building. At one point in my photographic career, I based my packages around hours, shooting anywhere from a 5-7 hour wedding day. However, I am now committed to documenting the entire experience from start to finish….and I get to see and photograph the final moments as they unfold.
For a typical wedding post, you’ll see shots of the details, getting ready, first look, ceremony, and first dance. However, THESE images below, the ones that hardly EVER show up on the blog and are usually only seen in the clients’ gallery yet have proven to be some of the funniest, most memorable shots of the day! In fact, there’s literally a shot below (the last on this post) that has carried on as a tradition amongst their friends. The pose hit by this groomsmen is now known as “zeke-ing”. It was named after Zeke, Dennis’s groomsmen after landing that giant stretch now known clearly amongst their friends.
In the last hour of the night, I find myself cracking up laughing, even dancing with the guests as I shoot. There are probably a few “LAST HOUR” shots of me when guests try to convince me that it’s my turn to take a picture. It truly is a blast and I thought it’d be fun to share a few of my favorite “LAST HOUR” photos. 🙂 Enjoy!!!
