Tell us about your wedding venue(s) and why you chose to get married there.
Jordan and I were both born and raised in New Orleans, but our jobs took us to Des Moines, Iowa. We both could not imagine getting married anywhere besides New Orleans. Il Mercato is such a beautiful venue in the heart of the Garden District. Once I saw the beautiful courtyard with that amazing fireplace, I knew that’s exactly where I wanted to marry Jordan!
What was your favorite wedding detail?
The champagne wall! Such a fun detail that all the guests enjoyed!
What is your favorite wedding memory from the day?
My favorite memory of the wedding day is toss up between the first look and the ceremony. Originally Jordan and I did not want to do a first look because we felt it would take away from the traditional walking down the aisle moment. However, after talking it through with Catherine, we decided to do the first look because we wanted pictures of the two of us in daylight. I am so glad we did the first look because I was a nervous wreck before and I immediately relaxed once I saw Jordan and was able to enjoy the rest of the day! And the first look did not at all take away from that moment walking down the aisle! Jordan and I never took our eyes off each other during the ceremony! The ceremony was candle lit and had such a romantic feel!
How did you incorporate your personalities into your wedding celebration?
Our goal was to show everyone a great time! We had a lot of out of town guests who have never been to New Orleans so it was important for us that they got to see how great of a city it is! In addition, Jordan and I have a cool hobby that we collect pressed pennies wherever we travel. One of Jordan’s wedding presents to me was that he got personalized pressed pennies as a wedding favor for our guests. It was such a surprise and so sweet!
