WPPI is kind of like my favorite roll of chocolate chip cookie dough. I tell myself that I’m just going to take one bite of the cookie dough and the rest I’ll freeze for later…to eat a bit more maybe one month from that day.
Half the cookie dough roll and a stomach full later… I realize that I shouldn’t have bought the cookie dough in the first place!
This is kind of like WPPI for me…except for that I never have regrets about going. The cookie dough is more of analogy for pacing myself. Every year, I say that Im going to pace myself at the trade show and only go to a few courses. I promise myself that I’ll be a “true Vegas visitor” and go-out, take it easy, and relax.
By the end of the week, I’ve walked the entire trade show floor…a couple of times, attended every seminar I could possibly make time for, blogged, met new people, and had the time of my life!
And then I CRASH.
WPPI truly is one of my favorite things to attend as a wedding photographer! It’s so much fun to meet people from all over the country (and the world for that matter) and to learn from the best of the best in the industry.
Amelia and I spend lots of the time that we’re there laughing and even better…we walk away with a new wealth of knowledge.
I’m thankful that our clients have invested in the business and give us the opportunity every year to continue our growth with workshops such as this.
This year, although I brought my camera I have recently become addicted to instagram and found myself documenting much of the trip on my iphone (some photographer, right?!)
If you’re on instagram and you want to follow my feed, it’s listed under my name: catherineguidry
So, I thought it would be fun to create today’s post out of the instagrammed images (with just 2 or so mixed in from my Nikon D3s). As you can see, I had the chance to :
*See lots of beautiful visuals (which I mean…duh, it’s Vegas)
*Meet new people
*Eat popcorn while listening to photographers
*Hang out with local photog friends Kaylynn, Kristen, Greer, Max + Jen, and Jacqueline..as well as mtg new photographers outside of our area!
*Participate in the the cL Spotlight event…read MORE about that HERE!
*Witness a couple modeling with painted on wedding attire <–this is for real, ya’ll.
*Chat a bit with photographer Jody Gray in the Starbucks line.
*Meet and learn from Jasmine Star at the creativeLIVE set
*Step foot on the creativeLIVE set! So cool.
*Listen to photographers such as Vanessa Joy + Rob Adams at the trade show.
*Get to know the awesome representatives at Black River Imaging!
….And SO, SO much more. I could honestly go on and on about this year’s experience at WPPI, and we were only there for 2.5 days! It was amazing and I encourage any photographer considering going next year to just take the plunge!
If I could offer you one piece of advice…don’t purchase a brand new pair of pumps and wear them on the first day: big mistake.
