Every year for Christmas, Paige travels to Roanoke Virginia to visit with her family. Paul has been before but this past year, he told Paige he was unable to make the trip. Although disappointed, Paige packed her things and prepared for the trip.
Paige + Paul had discussed their future together, but she was so completely blindsided by what was about to happen. I suppose it helped that her entire family was in on the secret. Even as Paige was packing up her things…the proposal was already well in motion. As she was saying good-bye, Paige’s mom was even slipping Christmas presents into the vehicle so that he could eventually share in the gift giving/receiving on Christmas (since he would actually be in Virginia).
When Paige arrived in Virginia, her mom asked Paige to join on a visit at the Roanoke star with her childhood best friend. Paige’s mother’s best friend was to bring along her son and they would spend a bit of time catching up. What Paige didn’t know was that none of this was actually true…and she was about to be the focus of one of the best moments in her life: Paul’s proposal.
In the meantime, Paul was safely making his trip from Louisiana to Virginia and settling into his proposal spot at the Roanoke star which resides over the valley.
Paige + her mom drove to the landmark location at the top of the city …. and there, lit by the lights of the Roanoke star was Paul. The first few minutes that past consisted of Paige trying to wrap her head around the idea that he was actually, physically there. She couldn’t even begin to imagine the logistics that led to that moment. And then…..the proposal came. 🙂 🙂
Since that special day, Paige + Paul have been planning their wedding! And I am so thankful to have been chosen as their wedding photographer! We’ve started this special photographic journey with their engagement session.
Paige + Paul….being the off-beat couple that they are, opted to shoot their engagement session at a location I’ve never shot at before: Cochon. Typically used as a restaurant, it served as their venue for the shoot. Paige and Paul wanted a laid-back session…so I photographed them as they hung at the bar a bit and then we explored further into the grounds around Cochon. It was a gorgeous day (really, I cannot get over this fabulous weather) and I had a wonderful time getting to know them on an even more personal note.
**As a side note, Paige showed up with a cat-shaped candy carrier since it was Halloween week FILLED with snickers, twix, starburst, and 3 musketeers. WHAT?!!! Love. ;)**
I appreciate that I am so fortunate enough to work with such wonderful couples who support my dream and are extra thoughtful along the way! Enjoy the preview of their shoot!!!
Enjoy Your Sunday and I would love to hear your thoughts on the photos!!!
