We sat by each other everyday in the Design 101 Studio. The class was filled with students from architecture, interior, and industrial design. I was pursuing architecture and Mia was looking forward to a career in interior design.
How crazy…that all these years later, we’re still creating art pieces together! She is now running her own floral studio: Root Floral Design, and I can’t believe we’re still side by side! Life is crazy, isn’t it?!
I find it even more ironic that one of our first projects in design school was to create a collage of objects…whatever our hearts desired. And so many years later, Mia had the idea to create a floral collage to mimic a film photo I’d taken of an art installation downtown, created by Makemade.
We selected a photo with color and interest…and Mia went to town! The exhibit was on display this past Saturday at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, and I’m so happy I was involved with yet another fun project with Root!
