Chelsey + Robert met in Peabody Hall…the place where 5.5 years later he would propose. In fact, not only did he bring Chelsey back to the spot they met for that proposal but he brought with him her yellow diamond engagement ring. This ring was chosen specifically because “yellow means friendship” and they wholeheartedly believe that the best relationships are built on a foundation of friendship.
The night of the proposal, Robert made dinner plans for Chelsey’s birthday! But FIRST…he took her to the place they’d met. He attributed the spontaneous visit to his mom’s scrapbooking. He currently has 13 scrapbooks of his journey through life and he told her that he wanted to grab a photo at Peabody on LSU’s campus because his mother was scrapbooking his college life and the location was on the way! Chelsey totally bought the explanation and brought her camera along for the photo opp!
However, when they walked up to the steps of Peabody, he surprised Chelsey with a beautiful proposal. Chelsey of course said YES..ready to start her life with the man she loves so very much! <3
And the surprise didn’t enter there…because the “dinner” that Robert had planned was actually made of their closest friends and family.
We photographed Chelsey + Robert’s engagement session at Audubon Park in New Orleans. It was a lovely day in one of my favorite spots here in the city! I love that Chelsey + Robert kept their outfits classic and simple and incorporated fun accessories like jackets/sweaters as well as jewelry and a silk flower crown from Annie Claire Designs.
I’m super thrilled to work with this sweet and loving couple! Until their wedding day post comes…feast your eyes on a few favorites from their engagements:
