My friend Katelyn recently got engaged…and so it began: the planning, the date setting, and selecting their venue. After their date and venue had been set she contacted me about shooting her wedding. As part of the initial process with all of the couples I work with, we talk about the wedding, the venue and what they are envisioning for their wedding. Katelyn was beside herself excited about the Camelot Club.
Especially being that they are getting married at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral in downtown Baton Rouge, the Camelot Club really couldn’t be more perfect. Also located in downtown Baton Rouge, it is literally in walking distance from the Cathedral. In fact, Katelyn + Billy have even discussed the possibility of doing a second line from the church to the venue.
I was shooting a bridal session downtown on a day when Katelyn and her mom were visiting the Camelot Club so I decided to take a peak. I am so excited to shoot there! It’s the perfect blend of old and new and will be a romantic and cozy location for their guests. While I was there I was also able to meet Lauren Fournerat, the catering director. In a matter of minutes, she made me feel like I had known her forever. I was able to see the way she treated Katelyn and her mom with such respect and also with an open-minded and friendly demeanor.
In the past I have posted venues that I feel are not only a nice location for the wedding and/or reception but also places where I sense a strong desire for the venue and their coordinator to take care of the couple. I felt that here.
After leaving the venue, I was able to get in touch with Lauren and ask Lauren a few questions:
How would you describe your job/how you interact with the couples before and on the wedding day?
“I get the honor and pleasure of working with the bride and groom and their families from start to finish. I love getting their emails and phone calls with questions about EVERYTHING! I start to feel like I’m really apart of their wedding and sometimes part of the family. I take a lot of pressure off the bride to ensure her day is exactly how she wants it, to step off the elevator and know your in good hands makes it all worth it.”
…(continued from above) “I really do treasure all my brides and their different personailities. I’ve been here for about 4 years now and have worked with 100s of brides and I pretty sure I can tell you a little detail about every single one of them. I feel like if you love something so much it sticks in your mind forever.”
The bar is so beautiful; and I love the detail and timeless feel throughout.
If you or someone you know is getting married in Baton Rouge, LA, this venue is definitely worth looking into!
