I don’t know if I’ve EVER met a woman who doesn’t like flowers. Really?! Who wouldn’t…they’re beautiful, they’re fresh and they smell incredible. And if you’re left with a petal after the “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not” game (which I know you’ve played at least once in your life) then you know He LOVES you! 🙂 🙂

I wish that I could be greeted everyday with fresh flowers! That would just make life absolutely perfect. Until that happens, I’ll just continue to ahhh over all the beautiful bouquets I encounter in my career. I love the way the light hits a diamond and the smell of a bouquet as I lay them out to photograph. I enjoy finding the perfect spot to rest her shoes and creating a scene with the bride’s jewelry. It’s like designing an atmosphere for pretty things. AH!

I was sitting at my desk thinking this afternoon about traditions…wedding traditions and how much I loved wedding bouquets. I am SO thankful they HAVE become a tradition, but….where did it start? Snopes.com states that the bridal bouquet represents fertility and beauty. In the olden days the bouquet was made of herbs and said to ward off evil. I’ve even heard that the smell was used to create a nice scent for the bride as she met her groom at the alter. In modern years, the bouquet has even been incorporated into another tradition — The Bouquet Toss. The bouquet toss represents fate for future marriage and whichever single made catches the bouquet is said to be the next to wed.

Besides the tradition of the bouquet, they are just beautiful. And I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you just a few of the many beautiful bouquets I have photographed recently. Enjoy! The first bouquet below belongs to Emily and it was created by Designs by Melissa: http://www.catherineguidry.com/blog/?p=3812

Don’t you just love her little lady bug?

I love when I bride personalizes her bouqet.

These shots were taken during a wedding I second shot with Adam + Erin Falgout: http://www.catherineguidry.com/blog/?p=1849

Now, remember to take some time today to stop and smell the roses. 🙂
