Was this the dress you initially thought you’d wear for your wedding?
I really wasn’t sure what kind of dress I’d choose. I was open minded when I went to all of my appointments and didn’t have a particular style in mind. I just wanted to see all the options and find what I liked best and what I felt best wearing.
Tell Me About Your Dress! Why did you choose this look?
I was not expecting to choose a fitted dress like this! I don’t typically gravitate to fitted styles in general, so this dress was a surprise. But, of course I’m so happy with it. I chose this look because it is just classic but has great style–I think my favorite thing about it is the off the shoulder neckline. I have always loved lace and this dress is everything I could have imagined!
How do you feel when you put on your dress?
I feel like me! My mom and my sister, along with several close friends, have commented on how “me” my dress is. That’s really important because I always want to stay true to my most authentic self, so the fact that I found a dress that reflects me so well means I got it right!
Why did you choose this particular bridal session location?
The Old Governor’s Mansion is our reception venue, so it is really special to our wedding. Also, I have a lot of love for my home state and take pride in my French heritage, making the Old Governor’s Mansion the perfect location!
Any advice for future brides embarking on this wedding journey?
Be present in every aspect of this journey (it truly IS a journey)! What may seem like annoying details are just part of the memory of the most exciting time in your life. And of course the fun parts–shopping for your dress, choosing what your bridesmaids will wear, to picking out invitations–just be present and enjoy it all! It will go by quickly just like everything good in life.
