Social media for me is like ice cream…cookies and cream, or a cupcake…with funfetti icing. π If I work enough in the day, I allow myself a break to scroll through the newsfeed on facebook, comment on twitter, and my newest addiction: browsing on pinterest.
Pinterest? If you don’t know, it’s a social network, the next best thing to coffee breaks and magazine reading. And it’s the most wonderful way to …. well, waste time. π Or maybe it’s not wasting since it’s walls are FILLED with inspiration.
When my friend Dom found out that I wasn’t on Pinterest she about LOST it!!!! I can still hear her saying, “Catherine! It would be the best thing for your business to get on Pinterest! Plus…it’s a ton of fun.” It took me a few weeks and eventually I broke down and decided to surcumb to the “addiction” as most people called it. Now, I completely understand why it’s called that.
The boards that I’ve made thus far are filled with wedding details and inspiration (which I’m totally obsessed with), future projects (some of which have now been completed), architecture, and fashion. I spend my few spare minutes browsing for things that well, … make me happy! π Yes! Pinterest makes me happy and keeps me inspired. In addition to this, I have begun using Pinterest as a way to leverage my business.
It’s a great marketing tool, especially if you’re an artist or someone who creates a visible or tangible object. I’ve seen pinterest walls filled with art, jewelry, hair styles, fashion, stationary, and all things wedding from photography to flowers.
If you are in some way shape or form a part of these categories or something similar, you should strongly consider using pinterest as a part of your workflow:
**Pin photos that you feel would best inspire others on pinterest.**
**The primary market for women on pinterest are ages 18-35, keep this in mind when choosing what to pin.**
**Pinterest users are looking to be inspired, so post images that will spark imagination, inform, or simply allow your followers to feel good.** π
**If you’re pinning from a blog, make sure to open & pin from the exact page you’d like the viewers to visit should they chose to click the pin.**
**Consider placing your logo or website address on the images so the viewers identify the image with your brand**
Most of all: HAVE FUN…Share….and Keep PINNING!!!!!!! If you’d like to follow my pin boards, you can do so at the following link:
