Around them I can be ME. 100%. And when I think of my best memories in life, SO many were spent being US. Growing up in a small town and attending a fairly small university…spending the majority of that time in the “Black Hole” (also known as Fletcher), hanging making a good time instead of waiting for one is just what we did.
My friends are all SO different but with a few things in common. They are ALL:
1. Good People
2. Selfless & Loyal
3. Witty
4. Open-Minded
5. Creative
This is Mike. We spent a little time recently being creative, making cupcakes (the heart one was for Brad. :)…)
When I am around him and the others (you know who you are), I can completely be myself. It’s ok if I’m not perfect, or if I don’t match. It’s ok if my hair is looking like from Doc from Back to the Future. They love me even when I:
- Forget what I said 5 seconds ago.
- Cry at random.
- Laugh uncontrollably.
- Sneeze obnoxiously (As much as I wish I could, I really can’t help it.)
- Change subjects, then change subjects again, then change subjects again and go back to the first subject.
I am who I am because they’ve allowed me to be and because they’ve marked my life in such a way that I’ll never forget. 🙂 And I love with as much love as that which they send my way.
So to each of you, I am thinking of you today. 🙂 And for everyone else, we can be friends too.
But only if you can make this face…and bake cupcakes.
