I was rummaging through old images from a trip to New York when I came across this photo. Taken at Ground Zero in 2007 with a simple point and shoot, it’s one of my favorite photos. When I look at this image, I remember what I felt when I stood watching it wave. It was silent there…as those around me paid respects to so many lives lost.
And I felt it was an appropriate reminder today.
For the men and women who are out, every day, living in honor of our country…for those past and present who have fought for our freedom, thank you. And to those who’ve lost their lives, including those innocent victims from 9/11….you’re in my thoughts today.
My classmates and I stood at the glass peering into Ground Zero that day. It was a time in my life I’ll never forget….a reminder of a time that no one will forget.
I read a quote today and I wanted to share it: “Have Less. Do More. Be More.” It seem inspirational on a day like today that is filled with sadness…
that as individuals we can still do our part to make this world a better place.
