On August 30, 2010 I sat at my computer watching my first Creative LIVE seminar. It was Jasmine Star’s Wedding Photography workshop: a 5-day course including LIVE shooting of a beautifully planned wedding.
And in that moment, I daydreamed of the opportunity to one day be on Creative LIVE. My passion for interacting with others started as a design student in architecture. We’d spend hours in the studio working on projects, sharing our work and experiencing the concept of becoming better at our craft together. Our friendships grew stronger and our work was better because of it.
When I moved into the photography industry, this same thought process carried over as I began meeting with and getting to know other photographers in the industry. I’ve become good friends with photographers here and have been fortunate enough to meet photographers outside of this state as well at previous conventions and workshops!
So….full circle back to creativeLIVE. Three weeks ago, I sat at my computer listening to creativeLIVE when an advertisement came on during the break. They announced that they were looking for ONE creativeLIVE viewer to have the opportunity to host their own seminar. They were accepting audition videos and would be choosing a number of applicants to audition LIVE in LAS VEGAS the week of WPPI.
I mulled the idea over for the next few days and after the weekend decided I would do it. I would FORCE myself to step outside of my comfort zone and make this happen. I contacted my good friend Tyler Meaux and began working on the concept, feel, and script for the video. We started filming at 10:30AM on the Wednesday and finished editing at 10:30 AM on Thursday. Brad spent Thursday creating an awesome musical piece for the film and on Friday, I sent the video and application form off to creativeLIVE.
I had done it. Regardless of the outcome, I had pushed myself to put the video out there. And then I waited.

On Monday of the following week, I heard the news:
I have been selected as 1 of 6 for the LIVE Las Vegas cL Spotlight audition on March 11, 2013 at PM Central Time!!!
What does this mean? I will be hosting a live 30-minute seminar in Las Vegas to potentially be chosen for my own seminar in Seattle! The seminar will be given in front of a room full of people in addition to being broadcasted online!
I mean, seriously?! Is this really happening? This past week, I’ve been working diligently on my 30-minute presentation and anxiously awaiting the opportunity!

Wedding Photographer Jasmine Star will be hosting the Spotlight and judges will include George, Arlene, and Celeste from creativeLIVE as well as fashion photographer Sue Bryce.
