Ever since I was a little girl, I made New Year’s Resolutions. I have always been the geeky type: made straight A’s, always followed the rules. I like to THINK that I’m a risk-taker but Brad consistently reminds me that I’m not. Anyway, so every year I take out a pen and paper and write down my goals for the year. This year I started mine a bit early, and although I won’t share ALL of my goals and dreams, I will share 10 of them. If you have a New Year’s Resolution that you would like to share, feel free to leave it in the comments section below!

  • LOVE BIGGER: I realize that this list sounds SUPER cheezy already, but if you know me, then you know I’m a sap. But as sappy as I am (sappier than tree sap), I’m still afraid sometimes to really let go in life. I have fears of commitment, fears of attachment, and fears of change. I mean, let’s be honest, I’m sad when things are over…so I’m sad pretty often. Even now that 2011 is over, I’m a little bummed it’s gone. πŸ™ So, I’m going to prepare myself to open my heart and love with all of it this year.
  • BLOG MORE: MyΒ blog has become like a journal. It’s allowed me to grow as a person and for those of you that read and comment here, thank you! I hope that it’s not TOO personal, and I do try my best to put out inspiring and interesting information as well. If there is anything that you would like to read more of, be sure to let me know. I’m definitely looking forward to spending more time writing and connecting with others this year.
  • LAUGH: I will use 2012 to laugh more, to appreciate the gifts that God has given, and to live light-heartedly. It’s SO incredibly easily to get caught up the details of things and the “nitty-gritty” of life….so I will use this year to laugh, to smile, and to enjoy the good things.
  • GROW: I know this is totally general and probably on everyone’s New Year’s Resolution List, but I want to do it. I want to grow, mentally…spiritually, and every day into Who I Am. Sometimes, it’s hard when surrounded by so much to really focus on myself. So, in 2012, I am going to make a true effort to do so. The only thing I don’t want to grow is my waisteline: which leads me to my next New Years Resolution….
  • GET FIT: Recently, I purchased a gym membership and I cannot wait to start hitting it hard again in 2012. I know this is also another pretty common resolution, but who DOESN’T want to look good? I am a sweets FINATIC. Like the “Can’t even buy it because I’ll eat it” type person. It’s not that I don’t enjoy going to the gym because I do. It’s that I need to really get into a schedule….
  • BECOME MORE DISCIPLINED: This applies to all areas of my life, not just in regards to fitness. Unfortunately, I am one of those “Lucky” (<–sarcasm alert) people who function better at night, and so waking up is quite the struggle for me in the mornings. I’ve decided that I function best with 10 hours of sleep. Yes! I said it, “10 HOURS!” I’m not saying I get this much sleep daily, but I wish that I could! So, right now…that I’m single without children, I’m hoping to start going to sleep at 10 and waking up at 8! πŸ™‚ How perfect would that be. I can still work a full day AND I’ll have all the sleep I need!!!! I just want to get in a schedule, period: one where I work out everyday and go to sleep at the same time. I started this morning so I’ll have to keep it going.
  • START A PERSONAL PROJECT: Every year, I have 5,678,905.234 ideas that I promise myself I’ll get to. And I suppose I make lots of efforst to get around to doing them, but a lot of them fall through the cracks. Especially in regards to the big ideas, I really don’t take the time to follow through like I should. This year, I have 2 BIG ideas. The two projects partially have to do with the business and partially have to do with the first resolution above for GROWTH. So, I’m going to make a personal commitment to follow through this year…and you guys can hold me to it.
  • TAKE TIME FOR THOSE I LOVE: Life is stressful, and even as blessed as I am to do what I love, I know that I MUST take time out of the busyness of life to spend time with others. I find myself often at my computer when I shouldn’t be, working when others are out and about. My parents, my brothers and Minette (and Chaos TOO) mean the world to me. And like most things in life, in order for our relationships to grow and become stronger, I must dedicate time to them. This year, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to make the extra effort to spent quality time (without cell phones and computers) with those I love.
  • STOP LOOKING BACK AND START LOOKING FORWARD: Well, that pretty much says exactly what I wanted it to.
  • BE UNAFRAID: You may have heard the saying, “The only person holding you back, is you.”I believe this 100%. If I want something, I’m going to do my darndest to get it. I was inspired this weekend in a conversation about none other than Walt Disney himself. He was a TOTAL dreamer, and look what he created! All it took was heart, dreams…and maybe a little magic. πŸ™‚ He is a true testiment of passion and dedication; he showed us that life and dreams can take us places we cannot even imagine.

SOOOO 2012. Bring it on.

I’m fortunate to have spent the first day of New Years with a wonderful man, Brad. πŸ™‚ I love you and I’m looking forward to many wonderful memories this year.
