Checking my google reader is part of my daily breaks. When I have a break in work or if I’m waiting in line at the grocery store, I take out my phone and browse my google reader. It’s filled with the blogs I love most ranging from lifestyle blogs, to photography blogs, and a few of my favorite wedding blogs as well!
Recently, I had a conversation with my brother David and his wife Minette about doing an anniversary shoot with them. It’s been almost three years since they were married and they haven’t taken any photos since their wedding. Like most couples, they’ve gotten busy. They recently opened David’s Orthodontics practice (Guidry Orthodontics) and they’ve moved a few times in the past years as well!
Life can get a little crazy, so I was excited to do this shoot for them. In addition, I collaborated with several local vendors to create a shoot with the intentions of getting published.
I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to Mia of Root Floral Design for the flower arrangements and fillers on the dessert table, Katie of Katie Bakes for the gorgeous cake and tasty cake pops (yes, OF COURSE I tried one!), Sara Buteaux for Minette’s hair & makeup, Valerie of Val Marie Paper for the lovely invitations and accordian stationary, and Sophie of Joli Petale for Minette’s hair accessory. I also want to send some extra gratitude out to my boyfriend Brad and my sidekick, Amelia for helping with the pinwheel backdrop. We all invested quite a bit of time into creating this recycled backdrop out of magazine paper and I’m pretty happy with the result!
Oh! And did I mention that Minette’s wearing a FABULOUS Badgley Mischka gold gown?!
It’s really fun to have friends that I love and adore…and even look up to as business women. Collaborating on this shoot was such a great experience and I learned a TON. I had no idea how much work it would be because this was my first time doing one. And I was really happy that we chose to do an indoor shoot because the day of the session…..it POURED! Be on the lookout because 100 Layer Cake has accepted this shoot for publication…and we’re all anxiously awaiting the post!
