I have a mom who collects..and in emergency situations, she’s always able to pull something together to make the necessary happen. And a dad…who’s fixed every broken object since I was a little girl. He taught me that ALMOST everything can be fixed with time, patience, and care. When we were little, we would beg my parents to let us play outside with one of my dad’s creative inventions.
What may appear as a simple rig: a few 2×4’s bolted together, encasing a punched through hose pipe, made for many MANY days of make believe and coolness from the hot Louisiana heat.
My dad taught me that you can make anything out of what you have, that sometimes life deals you the lucky hand and other times, you have to make things happen for yourself. My parents have taught me appreciation and creativity.
The little girl in the yellow was me over twenty years ago; I was outside playing with my brothers and their friends. But little did I know that it was yet another day where I would learn a valuable lesson from two people who loved us so much.
You were right. I love this post, and you. XoXo
