At some point in my years of studying architecture, I fell in love with modern design and urban spaces. I imagined one day being in a place where I could walk everywhere, all the while observing the tiny nuances of a city: public transportion, diverse culture and people, public parks, dogs on leashes and historical architecture.
When I walked into the space I would soon call home….I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Windows that stretched from floor to ceiling…overlooking the skyline of New Orleans, exposed concrete walls and concrete floors, white sheetrock beautifully finished with no crown molding. This could only be described as my ideal living space.
Even if I were to close my eyes and dream up a place…it would be this. Sometimes it seems surreal.
I’m grateful to be so close to the place I still call home (Lafayette, LA) and have been spending the last few weeks back and forth so much. I am happy to be constantly reminded of my cajun culture there and glad to have the convenience of spending with my friends, family members.
I think the biggest accomplishment for me thus far is realizing that I was able to overcome fears and make the leap. It’s kind of like when I chose to start my business in the first place…I was scared to fail, scared to forego my path in architecture, and scared of what others may think. But at the end of the day, I chose happiness. <3 And again, that’s what I’ve decided to do.
Being in a new place has been a bit lonely at times, and challenging being away from so many that I love…but it’s also pushed me to be more independent. I’ve also started cooking attempting to cook and am making progress. I did accidentally cook a cucumber instead of zucchini … but hey, I’m getting there. LOL Chaos is getting used to walking on the leash and everytime I take him outside I feel like a proud puppy mom.
I’m such a private person sometimes that it’s hard for me to share. But I feel that those of you who care enough to follow my blog and my work deserve to share in this experience with me! Because truly, if it wasn’t for all of the support and encouragement over the past few years I would never have had the chance to pursue these dreams of mine in the first place.
